The Montessori Elementary at Highland Park (MEHP) student application will open November 15th! MEHP will admit students based on a first come, first served basis. Completing the application and submitting the required supplemental documentation within the priority application period ensures your place in line. If we receive more completed application packets than the number of open student seats available for the current school year, we will initiate a lottery as mandated by the state of Tennessee.
For our inaugural school year, we accepted applications for students that will attend PreK, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade. In addition, we will also accepted applications for rising 5th grade girls that will transition to CGLA following the 2021-2022 academic year.
Please contact the Admissions office if you have additional questions. We look forward to receiving your student's application!
For admissions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 423.702.7230.

A charter school is created and organized by a community group and given special permission by the Local Educational Authority (Hamilton County Department of Education) to operate in the district. Charter schools operate differently. They may use a different grading system, teaching approaches, discipline strategies, or hold longer school hours and/or a longer school year. Charter schools receive public funds, but must also raise private funds to cover expenses such as building and transportation costs, as well as any other special program or equipment required.
The Tennessee legislature passed legislation in July 2011 that opened up charter school eligibility requirements. Any student eligible for promotion and living in Hamilton County is eligible to attend MEHP. We will only fill the following grades for the 2021-2022 school year: PreK, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd. In addition, we have decided to accept applications for 5th grade girls that will form a cohort and transition to CGLA following the 2021-2022 academic year.
Yes, transportation is provided for students in kindergarten and above, but is limited to a certain service area. Please contact us to learn more about our service area.
MEHP is a public charter school meaning there is NO TUITION.
You will be notified following the closing of the application period. This notification will let you know if your student is eligible, or if a lottery is required. If a lottery is necessary, a lottery date will be included in your letter and posted on the MEHP website.
The first step is to submit a completed application. A completed application includes your student's report card, attendance record and disciplinary report. Make sure that your contact information is correct and updated if needed. You will then wait for the close of the application period, to find out if a lottery is required. If a lottery is not required, acceptance letters will be mailed beginning in January 2021.
You may still submit an application for admission. If your child is eligible, they will be placed on the waiting list.
With this new and exciting school, we understand there will be questions that we’d love to answer!
